The glvG ORF in E. coli K-12 MG1655 has suffered a 508 bp deletion between 8 bp direct repeats (GAACCACT), which would be located between nucleotides 3861387 and 3861388 in the current genome sequence. The formerly annotated ysdC ORF represents the C terminus of the ancestral gene. An intact version of glvG is present in E. coli HS; see 6-phospho-alpha-glucosidase.
